Noblestar to Speak at the 2007 Project Management Institute (PMI) Houston Chapter Conference & Expo

7/23/2007 - Reston, VA

Noblestar, a professional IT Management Consulting firm, announced today that Robert Huet, Practice Manager, will speak at the PMI Houston Chapter Conference and Expo, taking place in Houston, TX, on November 7-9.

Sponsored by the Houston chapter of the PMI, the conference is the largest event in Houston for project and program management practitioners.  Attendees will gain insight into best practices, learn ideas and strategies for enhancing their organization's project management framework, earn PDU credits, and much more.

Robert Huet is one of a select group of people chosen to present at the conference.  His presentation, "Requirements Management and the Quest for ROI," will provide attendees insight into:

  • industry trends that are changing the game with respect to Requirements Management,
  • a litmus test to determine whether the organization can afford NOT to improve Requirements Management Maturity (RMM),
  • a generalized, practical and ROI-based approach to move up the RMM scale, and,
  • critical success metrics the organization should monitor during any RMM improvement effort.

Huet comments, "The software industry is slowly coming to realize the importance of requirements.  My favorite quote about requirements is from Frederick Brooks' 1987 essay, "No Silver Bullet: Essence and Accidents of Software Engineering":

"The hardest single part of building a software system is deciding precisely what to build.  No other part of the conceptual work is as difficult as establishing the detailed technical requirements, including all the interfaces to people, to machines, and to other software systems.  No other part of the work so cripples the resulting system if done wrong.  No other part is more difficult to rectify later."

Huet continues, "This is the challenge that makes me so passionate about requirements, and I am really looking forward to giving my presentation at the Houston PMI Conference & Expo."
